Hi, I'm Jackie!
Hi, I'm Jackie!
I'm a multi-media artist and late-identified neurodivergent auntie who is obsessed with her dog, the moon, and all things accessibility.
I am constantly gathering bits of beauty or creating my own. Whether it's words, drawings, collage, zines, paintings, you name it!
I was born and raised in the Midwestern United States, as evidenced by the big dorky smile here.
I've made Colorado my home for the past 10+ years and look forward to deepening my roots and building community here.
What I Make
*
What I Make *
Media: Drawings, collages, zines, paintings, photos, videos, written pieces, and more.
Content: Plants, animals*, the moon, abstractions, neurodivergence, mental health, accommodations, and more.
* This includes humans - Why on earth do we separate ourselves from animals - That's rhetorical - I know some of the history behind this distinction and I think it's ridiculous and dangerous - So, all us animals are proudly lumped together here.
No matter the medium, art is a
practice that allows me to:
study nature,
learn about myself,
explore visual stims,
play,
and connect with my loved ones -
past, present, and future.
Creating and collecting allow me to process my world, whether it's the textures of a leaf, or the ever-shifting colors & shape of the moon, or my own ebbs & flows through life.
I HOPE YOU FIND BEAUTY, CONNECTION, AND FUN HERE!

My Artistic Family Tree +
Here are the folks IRL who have shared their creativity with me and helped me find beauty.
Gramma & Grampa Maessen
wrote long, awesome handwritten letters, taught me how to crochet, made decoupage trinkets, painted rocks with me, taught me to enjoy watching squirrels and hummingbirds at the feeder, made cool drawings in Microsoft Paint, built an entire backyard pond, murals, picked four-leaf clovers for me, and gifted me dreamy poetry books.
Bobby
was a dancer, philosopher, jokester, performer, and greeted everyone with a huge smile and hug. He was the best big brother.
Jean Peters -
I remember you bouncing around the classroom with excitement for art history and just creating the most fun space for us all to play as we learned. Thank you.
Annie
played cello beautifully, asked hard questions, made adorable home-made greeting cards, loved to research, and had a great sense of humor.
Mom & Dad
both taught me to write to express myself, dance with joy, spot glimmers, and nurture community. Thank you for sharing photos of clouds and flowers.
Brad Loudenback -
Thank you for asking such a funny question - What is the difference between horses and humans? And then following it up with such an enthusiastic lesson about GLUTES! I can't thank you enough for kick-starting my love for figure drawing and helping to build my confidence. Thank you.
Bethy
is a sewing, embroidery, and crochet fiend! A ballerina who glows when she wears her pinks and sparkles and dresses up in all her fandom outfits!
Pamela Senti -
I *finally* just got my first big set of Prismacolor pencils and I can't wait to get to work! You blew my mind with a colored pencil drawing that was just as vivid as an oil painting. And you filled that art room with warm, protective, bad-ass energy. Thank you.
Aunt Margaret
drew gorgeous portraits, exuded tenderness, and crafted such a warm, welcoming home.
Peter
has tuned me in to the bass line and shown me such great kindness and love. You have such a good eye for photography and I’m hyped to see your work grow!
Grandma Chapman
had grit, good style, and
read her romance novels unashamed, which I still admire the hell out of.
Nieces, Nephews, & Niblings -
y’all have taught me to love anime, video games, Hero Forge, and the silly poop stickers. When you write, dance, advocate, and play with your style, you FILL THE WORLD WITH BEAUTY AND JOY. Keep playing dress-up, doodling, and expressing yourself. We love you!
Carol Hodson & Jeff Hughes -
thank you for pulling me through the most epic and confusing face-plant season which I now know was ADHD & autistic burnout. I was close to dropping out until you stepped in. You were both so generous with your time, your kitchens, and your guidance. Thank you!
